Mike has taught at Ottumwa High School for the past 24 years. He has served as their Head Boy's Varsity Golf Coach for the past 19 season. Mike also officiates boys and girls basketball. Mike's teams have won 6 State titles with 3 runner-up finishes.

Mike was instrumental in the beginning of the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. He served as President of the Associatrion since it's start - December 1999. He is currently the Association's Vice-President.
