Bill was elected to the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association in 2004. Bill coached boys & girls golf at West Des Moines Valley High School for 35 years.

Bill’s girl’s team won the State title in 1968,1979, 1976-1979, 1982, & 1983. His boy’s teams won the State title in 1976 & 1988. Valley won Co-Ed titles in 1976, 1978, 1982, &  1989 while Bill was coaching.

In 1994,  Bill was named National Golf Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association. In 2004, Bill was also elected to that organization’s Hall of Fame.
