Byron has been girl's golf coach at Battle Creek - Ida Grove since 1988. He has taught Industrial Technology at Battle Creek - Ida Grove since 1978.

Byron's teams have won 5 conference titles. In 1999, his team finished 5th at State.

Byron's record is 917-253-14. His 2006 team finished 7th @ State.

Byron has served on the Leadership Board for the past 4 years. Byron is also co-chairman of Golf for the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
