Byron was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2011.

Byron coached girl’s golf at Battle Creek-Ida Grove for 24 years. He retired with a record of 1122-284-14. Byron coached 7 conference championship teams. He coached 3 teams to District titles and took 3 teams to State.

Byron served on the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association’s Leadership Board and on the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s Golf Committee.
