Joe teaches Social Studies and Special Education for Monticello Community Schools. He has been Monticello girl's golf coach since 2001.

His teams have won 2 conference championships with 4 runner-up finishes. Monticello has 1 district championship and 3 regional team appearances. Joe has coached1 individual state qualifier in 2005.

Joe was a member of Oelwein's Boys 3A state championship team in 1989. Joe lettered 4 years at Upper Iowa University in golf.
