Dan Calhoun




Dan was inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017.

Dan was the head girl’s golf coach at Pleasantville for 41 seasons before retiring after the 2016 season. Dan had a coaching record of 1236 wins and 274 losses.

While at Pleasantville, Dan’s teams won 27 conference titles, 28 district/regional championships and 8 regional final championships.

Dan had 9 teams qualify for the State tournament with his 1993 & 2011teams winning State titles. He also coached the 1993 individual State medalist (Amy Miller).

Dan served on the IGHSAU’s Golf Advisory committee for 2 terms. He was selected as the IAHSGCA’s Class 2A State coach of the year in 2011 & 2014.

Dan and his wife, Ruth Ann, have been married for 47 years. Both are very active in their church and community. Dan & Ruth Ann had two children: Lori, who is an Occupational Therapist in the Des Moines school system and Craig, who is the HS principal @ Indianola.
