Randy Trine




Randy was inducted into the Coach’s Hall of Fame in 2017.

Randy was the Head Boy’s Golf coach at Burlington Notre Dame for 8 years and was the
Head B & G Golf Coach at Burlington High School – 29 as girl’s coach, 25 as boy’s.

Randy’s teams won more than a thousand matches. Randy coached two State championship teams - (1983 & 1999). His teams also finished second twice, third twice, and fourth twice. Randy also coached two State medalists. Randy took 13 teams to the State tournament during his career.

Randy’s teams won 7 conference titles while he also coached 3 conference medalists.

During Randy’s coaching career:

  • Was an initial member of the IAHSGCA Leadership Board
  • Helped initiate the rule where coaches could talk to players while they were on the course
  • Helped initiate the rules that allowed the use of range finders
  • Help establish having All-State teams thru the IAHSGCA

Randy coached 11 Division I players during his high school coaching career. Randy is currently the Co-Head Golf Coach at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington. Randy encourages his players improve daily and wants them to be good citizens with a strong moral compass.

Randy is married to his wife, Patty. He has 3 children (Jason, Justin, & Kimberly) and 2 step-children (Joe & Tiphanine). Together, they have 5 grandkids. They spend most of their free time watching their grandkids playing sports and spend their winters in Arizona and of course, he plays lots of golf!
