Al was inducted into the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007.

Al coached boy’s golf at Clear Lake for 22 yrs.

His record was: 712-241. Al’s team won 6 conference titles.

Two of his teams won the State title (1993 & 1998) and they finished second twice (1994 & 1996). Al also coached an individual State Champion – Brian Wilson in 1989.
